Luby Sparks has released a new song written specifically for the game ‘ROMEO IS A DEAD MAN’, which will be released worldwide on 11 February 2026.
‘ROMEO IS A DEAD MAN’ is a new title from GRASSHOPPER MANUFACTURE INC., led by game director Goichi Suda, who boasts a fervent global fanbase. Luby Sparks provided four tracks for the opening, in-game, and ending sequences.
The game’s opening track ‘Liar’, features an industrial alternative sound tailored to the zombie game. It will be released digitally on 13th February. Subsequently, ‘nothing left, we don’t know why’, released on 6th March, is the track that plays at the end of each chapter within the game. It is a dreamy indie pop piece, seemingly the polar opposite of the opening track ‘Liar’. ‘Romeo’ is the track featured in the game’s ending. It blends a distinct melody and vocal line with a heavy sound, creating a heavy shoegaze, alternative sound. It will be released on 27th March.
And on 17th April, the four-track EP ‘ROMEO IS A DEAD MAN’ will be released, comprising the three original songs plus ‘nothing left, we don’t know why (Distorted Version)’, which could be described as a shoegaze version of the track.

「ROMEO IS A DEAD MAN」は、世界に熱心なファンを持つ、ゲームディレクターの須田 剛一が代表を務めるGRASSHOPPER MANUFACTURE INC.による新作でLuby Sparksは、オープニング、ゲーム内、エンディング用に4曲を提供した。
ゲームのオープニングに起用されている「Liar」は、ゾンビゲームにあわせたインダストリアル・オルタナティヴ・サウンド。2月13日にデジタルでリリースされる。続いて、3月06日にリリースされる「nothing left, we don’t know why」は、ゲーム内の各章の最後で流れる楽曲で、オープニング「Liar」とは対極にあるようなドリーミーなインディポップ。「Romeo」は、ゲームのエンディングに起用されている楽曲で、メロディ、ヴォーカルラインがしっかりありながらもヘビーなサウンドと融合したヘビーシューゲイズ、オルタナティヴ・サウンドとなっており、3月27日にリリースされる。
そして、3曲に加え、「nothing left, we don’t know why」のシューゲイザー・ヴァージョンと言えそうな「nothing left, we don’t know why (Distorted Version)」を加えた全4曲のEP「ROMEO IS A DEAD MAN」が4月17日にリリースされる。

Luby Sparks
Luby Sparks is a Japanese alternative rock band formed in 2016. The band’s current lineup is Natsuki (bass, vocals), Erika (vocals), Tamio (guitar), Sunao (guitar), and Shin (drums). The band’s self-titled debut album, Luby Sparks (2018), was recorded in London with Max Bloom (Yuck/Cajun Dance Party) as a co-producer. In 2019, they released a single titled “Somewhere,” which was remixed by Robin Guthrie (Cocteau Twins). In May 2022, Luby Sparks released their second album, Search + Destroy, which is produced by Andy Savours, a Mercury Prize-shortlisted producer and engineer in London, who is known for working with My Bloody Valentine, Black Country, New Road, and Rina Sawayama. The album launch show at WWW X in Shibuya held in June was successfully sold out. In October, they performed in Bangkok, Thailand. In March 2023, Luby Sparks were actively expanding overseas with their first headline US tour around seven cities (New York, Boston, Philadelphia, San Francisco, Seattle, San Diego, and Los Angeles). In September of the same year, they were touring in seven cities in China, including a show at Strawberry Music Festival 2023, followed by a performance in Korea, and the worldwide festival Joyland Festival 2023 in Indonesia. Following the release of the last EP Song for The Daydreamers released in May 2024, new EP Song of The Hazy Memories will be released on January 24th, 2025.

2016年3月結成。2018年1月、Max Bloom (Yuck) と全編ロンドンで制作したデビューアルバム「Luby Sparks」を発売。2019年9月に発表したシングル「Somewhere」では、Cocteau TwinsのRobin Guthrieによるリミックスもリリースされた。2022年5月11日にMy Bloody Valentine、Rina Sawayamaなどのプロデュース／エンジニアを手掛けるAndy Savoursを共同プロデューサーに迎え、セカンド・アルバム「Search + Destroy」をリリース。同年6月には、初のワンマンライブ「Search + Destroy Live」(WWW X) も行い、ソールドアウトとなった。10月にはタイでの海外公演、2023年3月全米7都市にて「US Tour 2023」、9月「Strawberry Music Festival 2023」を含む中国全7都市「China Tour 2023」、10月韓国、11月インドネシア「Joyland Festival」へ出演を行うなど海外での展開も積極的に行なっている。2024年5月にリリースした「Songs for The Daydreamers」EPに続き、2025年1月24日にも「Songs of The Hazy Memories」EPをリリース。

物語の舞台は、とある事件によって分断され、消失してしまった宇宙。巻き込まれ、半死半生となった主人公ロミオは、強烈なテクノロジーによって復活。FBIの通称「時空警察」捜査官となり、時空を跨いで跋扈する凶悪犯たちと対峙する。同時に前触れもなく姿を消した恋人ジュリエットの足跡を追ううちに、ふたつの事象は重なりはじめ……。「デッドギア」と呼ばれる多機能マスクを被り、時空を駆け巡るロミオがたどり着く先は？
