REJECT ROHTO Z!
| Tokido Today, we have… an event that we held last year which was very well received. This is the second installment of that event. First, let me explain what Just Parry is. I’ll give you a brief explanation. In Street Fighter 6’s unique system, there’s a mechanic to block strikes called Drive Parry. If you block an attack on the 1st or 2nd frame of the parry, it’s treated as a Just Parry, allowing you to counter attacks that can’t be countered with regular guards or normal parries. It’s an extremely powerful technique. However, to match your opponent’s attack timing within 2 frames, or in other words, to put it simply, you need to press parry within 0.03 seconds of the attack, otherwise Just Parry won’t activate. This requires considerable skill. This is the second competition testing that skill. Now then, let me introduce the players joining us today! Please introduce yourselves in order! Hello… Oh, that’s not right. I’m LeShar from DRX. Nice to meet you. *This video was filmed in February 2025. GO1 has since left CAG. I’m GO1 from CAG OSAKAPUNK WORKSHOP. Nice to meet you. I’m Naruo from DFM. Nice to meet you! For this event, we’ve invited three players known for their Just Parry precision among Japanese players. I didn’t know I was known for that. Thank you for coming. Looking forward to working with you. That’s a pretty high bar you’ve set. My impression is that LeShar and GO1 are known for precision. They’re precision players, right? So they should be quite good. …I’ll do my best! I-I’ll do my best. And Naruo… How about you? I’m lucky. I’m just lucky, that’s all. That’s my only strength. Kosak’s favorite! But people often say your Just Parry precision is amazing… I hear that sometimes, but I’m not sure about that… Well, today I’m actually curious to see how good I really am. Like “People say so, but…” I haven’t specifically practiced in training mode, so I wonder how I’ll do. So, I might be in the “natural talent” category. First, let me explain the rules for today’s event. In Training Mode, you’ll use Ryu as your character, standing on the 1P side and unable to move. You’ll attempt Just Parries against pre-recorded attacks, 5 attempts for each challenge. There will be 4 challenges total, and the player with the highest overall success rate wins. The first challenge is E. Honda’s Butt Drop. The first challenge is E. Honda’s Butt Drop. The second challenge is a wake-up Just Parry. You’ll parry Cammy’s crouching HP’s active frames as you wake up. The third challenge is Akuma’s OD Gou Hadoken. You’ll need to Just Parry it twice. The fourth and final challenge is A.K.I.’s Rush Overhead. How confident are you all feeling? I’ve probably never done most of these in actual matches. Maybe the wake-up one. I’ve done the wake-up one, but I’ve probably never done the two-hit OD Hadoken parry. You might not be keeping up with the trend yet. The recent trend is already three hits. The recent trend is already three hits. Some even charge all the way to Scorching and parry three times. How about you, GO1? To be honest, the Butt Drop has a lot of luck involved, I think, but for the others, I’m fairly confident I can do them. Indeed, there aren’t many luck-based challenges this time. Last time, we had Honda’s headbutt, and at close range too. Plus Akuma’s Gou Hadoken in three strengths (light, medium, heavy). You definitely can’t react to those. Impossible. This time, the challenges are more skill-based, I think. How about you, LeShar? Actually, for me, the wake-up Just Parry is something I don’t do much in matches. Oh, really? I’m not confident in that one. Last time, nobody did well on the wake-up parry… Everybody struggled with that one. Two people only got 1 out of 5. It’s about properly using reversals, after all. True. So this is probably the most practical situation in real matches. Well, you shouldn’t miss it. If you do it properly. Tokido’s saying this because he got first place last time. The reigning champion. That’s some pressure. I think it’s the easiest one. Tokido, which challenge are you most confident in? A.K.I.’s Rush Overhead. My internal clock is perfectly My internal clock is perfectly timed for it. Is A.K.I.’s overhead 22 frames? 24 frames. It’s just the right timing. I can’t react to faster overheads. 20-frame overheads are tough. How many do you think you’ll get? For the Butt Drop, seriously, I might get 1 or 0. If I could get 2, I’d be really happy. Is everyone in agreement that the Butt Drop is luck-based? Isn’t it? I can’t get it at all. It’s extremely difficult. I’ve hardly ever landed it. Isn’t the Butt Drop Just Parry difficult? It’s difficult. It’s tough, right? Even LeShar finds it difficult? I think it’s the most difficult. The frames drop by 2F increments as it comes down, so it’s designed to make Just Parries nearly impossible. I see, that’s why it’s so hard to catch. It’s really down to luck. But if you can dominate here, you’ll have a chance to beat LeShar. I’d at least like to beat LeShar on this one. I’d like to see how each of you presses the parry button. Could you show me? Please. For me, I press parry with the parry button. That’s this button here. The thumb button? The thumb button. I used this last time too. Initially, I had a regular Hit Box with normal buttons, but when I switched to COMBO Extension, I thought I might feel some discomfort, but for me, there was none at all. I didn’t notice any difference. For parry, I use these fingers. I press it like this. What?! You press them simultaneously?! Really? I use the simultaneous press. That precision comes from simultaneous pressing?! Have you tried using just one button? Like setting a dedicated parry button? No, I never tried that. You haven’t? I never tried it. That’s incredible. I’ve been doing this from the beginning until now. I tried that simultaneous press once, but I’d sometimes miss medium punch inputs. Exactly! Like when I got hit by Guile’s Sonic Boom. Right, right. I’d think “I wouldn’t get hit this way with a single button.” But since you’re used to it… You really don’t get any missed inputs. That’s amazing. I use this. I press with my pinky here. Pinky user! Your pinky?! My Drive Impact is here (thumb button), so I parry with this. You use your thumb for Drive Impact? Yes. Isn’t the pinky hard to use? Not at all, it’s not difficult. Since you press Impact more, you use parry more often. I was thinking most people would use their thumb for parry since it’s a higher priority. Your pinky moves well! I have really flexible pinkies. From playing rhythm games. My pinky moves very well. I also use my thumb for parry now. What? Really?! I’m using my thumb now. I thought you used simultaneous pressing? I’ve graduated from that. Oh, I see. It’s like this for me now. Since when? About 3 months ago. That’s a while ago. And my Impact is here (to the right of HP). As Kosak mentioned, frequency matters. You don’t use Impact that often, so I put parry on the thumb. We invited Naruo thinking he was a simultaneous press player… I guess I should go home then. Did switching to one button make a difference? Like Tokido mentioned, the medium punch/kick inputs don’t leak anymore. That definitely happens. I don’t think my parry precision improved, but unintentional counter hits don’t happen anymore? Yeah, those happened sometimes. That’s gone now. Now I know my parry is coming out consistently. So one button is better? I think theoretically that’s optimal. When pressing, can I use my index finger? No way! We’re simulating real match conditions, so shouldn’t you use your pinky? If you want to win, go with index. Do you normally practice Just Parries? Not at all. I practice against projectiles, especially when facing Guile. Ah, for league matches. Yes. I record random Sonic Booms and practice Just Parrying them. When I know who I’m fighting, like Vega’s HP, I’ll practice against that. I do that kind of practice. The visual effects don’t always match, sometimes it’s a bit early or late. Yes, yes, yes. Different projectiles have slightly different timings. They vary by projectile. So you need to practice to get used to them. LeShar, do you practice Just Parries? I don’t practice now, but when I was playing Chun-Li, I was new to Street Fighter, I would practice in the early morning when no one was around. I practiced against every character with projectiles. Did you start doing multi-hit Just Parries with OD Hadoken? I don’t know who first did it, but I feel like it became popular through LeShar. Did you practice it? No, I didn’t practice that either. The first time I saw it was when Fujimura did it. Oh, Fujimura was doing it. That’s where Fujimura comes in. After seeing that, I thought I should try it too. Did you practice it? No, I never practiced. But recently, I’ve been practicing Yoga Flame a little bit. You practice Just Parrying that? If you Just Parry it, you can get confirmed combos, like first hit Just Parry into Drive Impact, for a guaranteed combo. That has like 3 hits, right? I guess now Tokido’s going for 3 hits too. That’s the era we’re in now. 3 hits is really difficult though… Let’s get started. I’ll go first for practice. Tokido – 1st Challenge
E. Honda Butt Drop Tokido practice in progress This is tough. Nice! Good one! Well, that was just luck. I was 5 frames off. Definitely luck-based. Seriously?! Let’s continue! Parry press was too slow. The Butt Drop was fast. Ohhhhh! Got lucky! He looks surprised himself. But getting 2 is impressive. OK! No, this is skill, not luck. I get it. You can see it and press. LeShar – 1st Challenge
E. Honda Butt Drop This… Not good? He has 3 tries. I feel better now. Me too. Oh, LeShar is human after all. He pressed way too early. I am human. That was close. Probably 1 frame early. Hmm! I get it! This bait and switch is terrifying. I’ll try to beat LeShar with Honda. Oh! On the last try! I got lucky. GO1 – 1st Challenge
E. Honda Butt Drop This is all luck. Hold on… No, surprisingly… Too slow. That was late. Well, getting hit means it was late. It must be late. GO1 is getting old too, I guess. Age catches up with everyone in this industry. He used to be able to see 1-frame moves, but now he can’t even see the Butt Drop. Come on, come on. No, no, no. It’s just practice, just practice. The parry button is working, right? It’s working. That’s the starting point. Even now… He’s still aiming for it. Pixel-perfect timing. Pixel-perfect aim. Oh! But all his attempts were close. He’s the most skilled one here. He’s reacting to what he sees. He’s truly the most skilled. I’m a bit relieved. I was worried he might hit all of them at that timing. Naruo – 1st Challenge
E. Honda Butt Drop Aiming but a bit late. Whoa, that’s wrong too. Seriously?! Close! LeShar! Yes? I’m going to surpass you. LeShar got 1, right? Please do. Thank you~ Thank you, friend~ That was tough. Honda is strong. He’s really strong. Tokido – 2nd Challenge
Wake-up Just Parry We need to score here, right? Here! Can’t afford to miss. It’s like a penalty kick pressure. Let me practice first. Though I don’t really need to. Just to check if the PC is working. Like so. So, as I was just saying, I need to adjust my body timing to the PC. Impressive. That’s impressive. Veteran pro gamers are different. I see. But you’re adjusting to it. So next time it will connect? Yeah, exactly. I could even make more fine adjustments if needed. Ah~ OK, OK! This “interval” is good. This “interval” is good. I see. If the interval works, the first and second tries were enough. Hmm? Something’s… This might be difficult. What happened?! Huh? It’s tough. Is it tough? Oh, this could be bad! Wow~ as expected! You matched it at the end! Wake-up Just Parry LeShar – 2nd Challenge Nerves are definitely a factor. Oh~ Well, well, this is how people react. Nice~! As expected, he adjusted to it! He really does adjust. Wake-up Just Parry GO1 – 2nd Challenge He’s a precision player, but when it comes to pressure, I hear it’s a different story. He’s overcoming it! He has ups and downs. It’s not about precision. It’s about pressure after all. That looked like perfect timing. It was truly “just” perfect. Ahh! Ahh! That one was pixel-perfect too! GO1 is really good. I was nervous~ Perfect Just Parry and PERFECT GREAT in rhythm games use the same frame window, right? That’s right. Oh really! Actually, that’s true. Beatmania also has a 2-frame window for PERFECT GREAT. That’s where it comes into play. There are definitely similarities. So if DOLCE tried it… Exactly! Wouldn’t he be amazing? I once gave DOLCE some SF6 coaching, asked him to Just Parry projectiles, and he did it perfectly. I was like “Whoa!” He’s definitely different. I’d love to see him try. Wake-up Just Parry Naruo – 2nd Challenge Too early? Too early with that one… Ah, that timing. That was good timing. This timing. Was that early?! A bit early. But you know, I’m saying this, but I honestly can’t tell. Whether it’s early or late… I just happened to get the second one. When a normal parry comes out, I think “Was it early?” I’m just judging by the result. Looks like a consistent timing. Yes, it is. What? That one didn’t work?! About 1-2 frames off. So close. Oh! How many did LeShar get? I got 2. 2, right? Good. Oddly competitive here. Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes. Now this is super high pressure. Oh! 3 hits! After the first two challenges, here are the current standings! Tokido – 4 points LeShar – 3 points GO1 – 5 points Naruo – 4 points It’s very close, but GO1 has a slight lead. I represent Osaka and CAG, You’re representing Osaka too? Yes, Osaka too, I see. So I have to do well. From here on, we’ll have more skill-based challenges. This is tough. I might get 0 points… I’ve never done the two-hit Hadoken parry… Naruo, you can do it. I really have never done it… Akuma OD Gou Hadoken Naruo – 3rd Challenge Tough! Ah~ But this really does show who’s practiced and who hasn’t. I think we’ll see the difference. The second hit has slightly different timing. In terms of timing, is it like “Pan-Pan”? No, it’s “Pan-Pan”. It’s “Pan-Pan”. Not that fast? That last one was a bit slow, so it’s “Pan-Pan”. I can’t do it!! By the way, I pressed 3 times. Close! Oh!! Nice! I’m good! Oh! Did you “get it”? Huh? Wait, I… Natural talent after all… Rhythm is important here. Well, well, well. 2 hits. I’ll take it. Amazing. This might help with future strategies? Absolutely. Against Akuma and such. But this definitely needs practice. It’s essential. As planned, we’ll do the last two challenges together. A.K.I. Rush Overhead Naruo – 4th Challenge What? Tough! This is really tough! It’s the slowest overhead in the game. Technically, Lily’s overhead is 25F, making it the slowest normal/special overhead. A.K.I.’s overhead is 24F, making it the second slowest, while other characters’ overheads are 20-22F. The animation is hard to read. Wow, excellent! This move is great for aiming for Just Parries. She really drew that out~ She draws it out~ She definitely draws it out~ It’s the slowest overhead. Wow, nicely done! You really have to see it and then react. Too early! Overhead timing is about 20 frames different. Quite different. Oh~ Late reaction works. Whoa. That was a bit late… Akuma OD Gou Hadoken GO1 – 3rd Challenge Wow, he’s amazing. It’s not about experience then. He was practicing, you know? It must be pressure. No, he practiced it. The most annoying guy. Huh? Wait, earlier, Naruo was like “That timing, right?” to someone from Osaka, No, no, no. But there was an old man from Osaka! No, no. Oh! But he always bounces back. Amazing. No way! After all that… Two points. Same as me. Just a Vega stance player. I’m just a Vega stance player… No, no, no. This is the commentator. This is what happens when someone says “That timing, right?” A.K.I. Rush Overhead GO1 – 4th Challenge Huh? I can’t see what GO1 is doing… You really can’t beat age. He used to see 1-frame moves. 1-frame overheads. No one can see 1-frame overheads. That was early. The one I got hit by was… Was that the commentator again? No. Wait. Calm down. From “late” to “early”, so aim for in between. Oh! He found the middle! Whew, close! Once you get one, it clicks. That one… That computer was impressive. Well… Two hits. Akuma OD Gou Hadoken LeShar – 3rd Challenge Excellent! Getting it first try can really boost confidence! Too early. A bit early. He’s really good. No way! Two points? Two points! A.K.I. Rush Overhead LeShar – 4th Challenge Seriously?! That was a bit early, though. He really looks like he’s reacting to it. Nice! Excellent. REPLAY He nodded. Wow! This is…! LeShar!? Stop it! Perfect score!! As expected. This is incredible. But yesterday, I lost to Kawano when he hit me with an overhead. *The SFL Grand Final was the day before filming. That wasn’t A.K.I. though. Akuma OD Gou Hadoken Tokido – 3rd Challenge Nice! Excellent. OK! That’s a “I got it!” reaction. Indeed. Like “Can I really do this?” kind of reaction. Ah, second hit! Only got the first hit. First hit only. That last one, I got baited. By who…? Let me explain: Because I failed the second hit Just Parry on the first attempt, I realized, “I need to be a bit quicker.” That was my mindset for the third attempt. But you didn’t adjust. Oh, sorry. Excuse me. He didn’t adjust. That wasn’t adjusted. Wait, wait, wait! Hmm!! Hmm!! He’s not good. Wait, I’m the only one with 0? It was just the practice I did. A.K.I. Rush Overhead Tokido – 4th Challenge Yes. Nice. Someone who nods when hit by an overhead. He’s adjusting to it. There was someone like that. Someone who got hit by overheads and would nod like “Hmm, yes, I see.” I’ve seen those at the arcade. They existed, right? My senses are too sharp now. Need to adjust. This is definitely someone who nods after getting hit by overheads. Am I turning into Daikoku from last time? Oh~ I’ll be fine from here on. It’s true, amazing! Really! OK! As expected, Tokido adjusts in the second half. Thank you! Three points! Now that all the challenges are complete, I’ll announce the final results! Tokido – 7 points LeShar – 10 points GO1 – 9 points Naruo – 8 points Champion: LeShar Getting a perfect score is amazing. It really is. But Naruo also did great with the OD Hadoken. How did you find each challenge after trying them? But you know, surprisingly, the Butt Drop didn’t feel completely luck-based. Really? I thought there was a bit of skill involved. You definitely need to match the timing, though it’s probably harder than other challenges. Having proper timing. The wake-up parry was also more difficult than I expected. Do you think so? I think with practice, you could get much better. And the wake-up parry was definitely more difficult than I expected. The wake-up parry, right? Yes. In actual matches, when I think “I’ll Just Parry here,” it usually works out. Wave motion was something I had no confidence in. The two-hit parry was the one I was least confident in. Actually, I just got lucky with the first hit. Huh? Really? The actual competition was tough. It’s definitely challenging. Even getting the first hit is pretty difficult. True. LeShar was incredible with those overheads. 5 out of 5 is amazing. Was it easy? No, A.K.I. is easy. You see it and react? Yes, see and react. It’s about confirming the movement? Yes, confirming the movement. Tokido also said that would work. It should. My internal timing is just right. See the movement and press the button. But today I was a bit too sharp. The SFL Grand Final From yesterday’s battle, I was pressing a bit early. It varies by day, I guess. Everyone was lucky today. LeShar, how was the overall experience? I think GO1 has superhuman reactions, so I’m really happy to be with him. To finish first, is really exciting. LeShar, I was getting hit by A.K.I.’s overheads. I pressed every time but got hit. Well, I’m younger. I used to be great, you know? I’m not just a commentator! Actually, does the pressure get to you in competitions? I get extremely nervous. Seriously. But it was fun. It was very fun. I hope everyone tries this in their streams. Try these challenges yourself. I’d be happy to see that. By the way, we might do a third competition, do you know any players who you think have good Just Parry skills? Fujimura, maybe? Fujimura is really good. Mago. Mago?! Is Mago good at this? He’s good at wave motion Just Parries. He practiced a lot. Seriously? During Akuma matches. He said “I practice this for an hour” but he probably only said that for about 2 minutes. Mago and Fujimura… That would be an amazing competition. Looking forward to it. This event has many different challenges, so I hope we can continue it in the future. That concludes today’s event! Thank you, everyone! If any of you have announcements, please share them. LeShar? My overhead Just Parries were a bit lucky today, so I need to practice more for this Capcom Cup, to never get hit by overheads. That’s my goal. Excellent! So that means we’ll see those results at Capcom Cup. I’m on YouTube and Twitch streaming, so if you like, please subscribe and like. I don’t have much to say, but like GO1, I’m on Twitch and YouTube, so check it out if you’re interested. Thank you all very much! And if you like this channel, please subscribe and like.
